SIMON MICHAELS. The name rings a bell? Well, it should since he is none other than SIMON One In A Million (OIAM) Season 3. Having had reached the TOP 6 in the show, SIMON MICHEALS is now set to rock the local music scene.
Starting out with the drums at the age of seven, SIMON then progressed on to the guitar, keyboard and bass guitar, all self-taught. Music has always been his passion and SIMON made sure nothing got in the way of his music. His father, who is a musician himself, recognized his talents and ensured SIMON got all the exposure he could gain at a very young age. SIMON started playing in church when was nine. When he was just twelve, he was invited to play the drums in a Christian concert in Singapore with established Gospel musicians from India. That marked the beginning of his involvement in the Gospel circuit. At fifteen, SIMON formed his first band, MASMEN, with his cousins and brother. MASMEN was big in the Gospel scene in KL, pioneering the Gospel Rock movement in Malaysia.
It was when SIMON moved to Penang for college, he got involved in the club circuit, playing in various clubs around the island. He used this time as a platform to get his name out and soon turned into a professional club singer. While singing in clubs, SIMON started producing songs with a Swedish producer and recorded 10 tracks with him under AKKU Music Productions.
Four years later, SIMON joined One In A Million Season 3. His journey to TOP 6 was followed intently by his supporters, whose numbers grew as he moved higher up in the competition. Now the name SIMON MICHAELS is known throughout Malaysia.
At the same time Simon has gathered a large fan base nationwide. Leaning towards acoustic rock and pop rock music, SIMON's deep husky voice mesmerizes and captivates all those who listen to him singing. He is one of those rare talents that sound amazing live. Being blessed with the look that suits his music genre, his stage presence is one that is not to be missed.
After leaving One In A Million, Simon was immediately signed by JVM Multiple Records and started working his debut single, ADAKAH INI CINTA. Currently the song is receiving air play on ERA.FM. The song was composed by Lawrence from Carbolic Smoke Balls and was produced by Amir who is also the producer of Ella, the Malaysian Rock Queen. At the moment, SIMON is working on his second and third single.
SIMON MICHAELS has always been and will continue to be a live musician. His true talent and skills shine through when he is up on the stage. He is a genuine singer-songwriter, a rare gem.
