Beat The System was formed in the late 2001 by guitarist Stewart and Shuresh. Both met in a church jamming session back in jbee.
Due to the same level of musical interest, Stewart and Shuresh became very close friends and shared ideas musically. With Stewart on guitars while Shuresh were on drums and vocals, we started to jam our favorite cover songs. Realizing we could more then jamming, we started writing original materials for fun.
In the late 2001, we made a pact to create music with originality while using our own music influences, believing that we can make an impact in the local music scene. Soon, we started to look up for bassist and drummer to complete Beat The System line up.
Sam was invited to play bass, by knowing that he has the same level of interest and passion for music. Together we started the beginning of Beat The System. We made a commitment to jam and tighten up our skills.
In May 2002, when Stewart moved up to Kuala Lumpur, he manages to hook up with Gerald to take over the drums and thus the full line up for the Beat The System was completed.
Along the way, the band realized that Sam had more potential in singing and we started auditioning for a bassist's while later raja, an old friend of Stewart and Gerald became the bassist.
Despite the distance that Sam and Shuresh who works in Singapore, while the rest are based in Kuala Lumpur, we still manage to spare time for practices and writing songs regularly. It all went back to basics," DO YOUR HOME WORKS!!!!!!"
In the early 2003, Beat The System started performing gigs in Kuala Lumpur with an impressive result. Beat The System is well equipped with high octane performance, showmanship as well as music tightness in every gig.
In the mid 2004, raja parted from Beat The System due to musical differences and Selvam was invited to take over the position. And in 2008 Lenard had been invited to join Beat The System after the departure of selvam.
In despite of performing a high energy level shows, Beat The System wants to create an experience to the auditions, so we play like there no tomorrow!!!!!!
Beat The System started a journey and would embark an epic in the Malaysian music industry, soon after the birth of 5 razor sharp slithering tracks completed with a self-titled EP. These 5 tracks were carefully mastered, mixed by Chee Ming of standing wave records, and re-mastered with even an intensive care by Selvam.
And another track which is written in our national language known as Penipuan Berwaris has been released and has been chosen as the single for Warner Music compilation album titled Indiestructable - Spirit of Freedom.
Currently Beat The System is producing another track for a Warner Music artiste Fiq (Mentor TV3) and should be hitting the airways mid April 2010.
